The Basin

Introduction

The Basin is a gorgeous waterfall that cascades into a large pothole in the Pemigawasset River that originated from a melting glacier during the end of the Ice Age.

This was day 2, part 2, of our White Mountains, New Hampshire get-away.

Our Impressions

The Basin can be combined with a hike but given that we hiked Mount Washington the previous day and completed Bald Mountain and Artists Bluff the same day, we were too tired for any additional hiking. We simply drove right to the parking lot beside the Basin and came to take a look at this beautiful phenomenon. If you are short on time but are driving by, it’s definitely worth making a quick stop.
